The UW Flexible Option tuition payment deadline date is the 11th of the first month of your subscription period. Tuition, fees, and Flex Check-In (if applicable) are due by 11:59 p.m. Central Time.

Students who withdraw from a UW Flexible Option program prior to or within ten days of the start of the subscription period are refunded all (100%) tuition. Students who withdraw between the 11th and 20th day of the subscription period are eligible for a 50% tuition refund. Students who withdraw on or after the 21st day of the subscription period are not eligible for a tuition refund.
After the 11th day of the subscription period, students enrolled in an All-You-Can-Learn subscription who withdraw, or are withdrawn, from one or more competency sets resulting in the student being enrolled in only one competency set, will remain in the All-You-Can-Learn subscription and will not be eligible for a refund.
Students who withdraw from the program between the first and tenth day of the subscription period are assessed a $50 withdrawal fee. Students who are administratively withdrawn from the program for any reason, including non-payment or not completing the Flex Check-In, are also charged the $50 withdrawal fee.

Subscription level changes
Students may adjust their workload from the All-You-Can-Learn (AYCL) subscription level to the single competency set level at any time during the first ten days of their subscription period, and tuition will be adjusted accordingly. After the tenth day of the subscription period, students enrolled in the AYCL subscription level who are administratively withdrawn, or reduce their load of their own accord, from one or more competency sets resulting in their remaining in only one competency set, will not receive a tuition refund. Such students will remain AYCL students and may add additional competency sets throughout their subscription period. Note: A student may not re-register for the same competency set(s) from which he or she was administratively withdrawn until the next subscription period.
After the tenth day of the subscription period, students who are enrolled in the single competency set level are not eligible to add additional competency sets during their subscription period. Such students must wait until a subsequent subscription period to add additional competency sets.
Students who are administratively withdrawn from the university on the 11th day of a subscription period for any reason, including non-completion of the Flex Check-In, will receive a full refund less a $50 withdrawal fee. Students who withdraw of their own accord (i.e., drop all competency sets) between days 11 through 20, whether AYCL or single, will receive a 50% refund.
Students who fail to pay their account balance in full, and/or who have not completed all required Flex Check-Ins (FCI) for all competency sets in which they are enrolled, will be officially withdrawn from the UW Flexible Option program on the 11th day of the subscription period. A withdrawal fee will apply. Students enrolled in multiple competency sets who complete some but not all required Flex Check-Ins will continue to be enrolled in the UW Flexible Option program but will be dropped from the competency sets in which a required FCI was not completed.
Students may appeal an administrative withdrawal under the following two circumstances:
- Technical problems were encountered while submitting a Flex Check-In resulting in the FCI not being submitted within the required time frame.
- The competency set(s) from which a student was administratively withdrawn is the last competency set(s) needed for graduation, and a delay in re-registering will require the student to subscribe to an additional subscription period.
Required Appeal Documentation for Administrative Withdrawals
- Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org that includes the following:
- Subject line: ADMINISTRATIVE WITHDRAWAL APPEAL
- Student name
- Student ID number
- The subscription period the circumstance occurred
- Indication of the “eligible reason to appeal”
- Attach supporting documentation (if applicable) ex. proof of technical problems
