By now you know that the UW Flexible Option awards credit based on what you know, not how much time you spend in class. In fact, UW Flexible Option programs do not rely on traditional courses or credit hours. Instead, students make progress by passing competency sets made up of the skills and knowledge deemed essential to their chosen fields.
But what does a competency set look like? Have a look and see for yourself!
We’ve prepared a sample competency set just for you. Try it now. Log in to the UW Flex online learning environment (we call it Desire2Learn, or “D2L” for short) and get acquainted with some key UW Flex terminology as you explore the elements that make up every Flex competency set: the welcome message, competency set orientation, learning resources, and assessments.
