Develop High Demand Skills in this Industry-Informed Credential
Project management skills are a must-have in today’s economy. You can expect to manage a wide range of projects, regardless of your type of job or industry. As a result, project management training will keep you ahead of the competition.
The UW Flexible Option is proud to announce the re-launch of UW-Parkside’s Project Management Certificate. Built from the ground up with principles of competency-based education, this redesigned certificate provides you the training you need to manage an entire project lifecycle. You will be able to confidently see projects through to completion on schedule and under budget.
This 13-credit certificate adheres to the Project Management Institute (PMI) guiding principles—the gold-standard in the project management field. Given that, this program satisfies the educational requirement for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. The certificate includes an optional course that will prepare you for the PMP exam.
“Project management is no longer a skill set needed just by dedicated project managers: employers in every business setting are looking for employees who can ably lead projects,” said Suresh Chalasani, Ph.D., Academic Program Lead and Associate Dean of the College of Business, Economics, and Computing at UW-Parkside. “Guiding a project through completion has quickly become an essential skill in today’s workplace.”
You will study how to create a project charter, define scope, and establish (and stick to) a schedule and budget. Additionally, the certificate covers key competencies in procurement, risk assessment, team management, and quality assurance. Another key point is that you will compile a portfolio along the way that signals to employers you are ready to manage increasingly complex projects. This certificate also places an emphasis on recent developments in project management, such as Agile methodologies (including Kanban and Scrum).

Certificate Awarded by Accredited UW-Parkside
UW-Parkside’s College of Business, Economics, and Computing awards this certificate. UW-Parkside holds the prestigious accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Business Schools International (AACSB). Fewer than 5% of business colleges internationally have this accreditation.
“At UW-Parkside, we pride ourselves on providing affordable, accessible, and quality education. The UW Flexible Option is a great format for adults to learn the essential skills of project management and advance their career on their schedule,” said Dirk Baldwin, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Business, Economics, and Computing at UW-Parkside.
This certificate can be completed as a stand-alone program, which is ideal for established professionals looking to upskill in this area. It can also be earned as part of the elective requirements of the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration program.
We are now accepting students in the newly redesigned Project Management Certificate. Like all innovative UW Flexible Option programs, you can start any month of the year and you study entirely at your own pace.
