Degree Requirements and Math Options
- CGS MAT 102x (Mathematical Literacy for College Student II) Depending on your degree program of study, CGS MAT 102x may be the only math course you will need to graduate.
- CGS MAT 215 x (Elementary Statistical Analysis) is required of Diagnostic Imaging and Health Science majors to graduate. Either CGS MAT 102x or CGS MAT 105x will satisfy the prerequisite for enrollment.
- CGS MAT 105x (Intro to College Algebra) is a general education elective that can be used to satisfy your degree requirement in math. If you do not have equivalent transfer credit to CGS MAT 105x, you may need to take a math placement test to satisfy the prerequisite (math placement score of 20 or higher).
Note: Students with equivalent transfer credit to MATH 095, CGS MAT 095x or CGS MAT 101x has satisficed the prerequisite for placement into CGS MAT 105x.
CGS MAT 105x may be a more appropriate math option for students interested in attending graduate school or a considering a major in a a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field of study. Please work with your Academic Success Coach to discuss your degree plans.

NOTE:
- CGS MAT 102x or CGS MAT 105x will fulfill core degree requirements.
- If you are intending to apply to graduate school, or enroll in a bachelor’s degree program that may require a higher level math course beyond what is required by the UW Flexible Option programs, then CGS MAT 105x may be a more appropriate math plan option.
- If CGS MAT 215x (Elementary Statistics) is also required for your degree program, either CGS MAT 102x or 105x will satisfy as the prerequisite to CGS MAT 215x.
