UW Flexible Option Now Offering a UW-Milwaukee Certificate in Health Care Informatics

As the healthcare industry continues to grow, so does the industry’s need for professionals with skills in technology. The UW-Milwaukee Health Care Informatics certificate, offered 100% online through the UW-Flexible Option, brings together technology and healthcare and provides access to an in-demand career.

The undergraduate UW Health Care Informatics certificate features an 18-credit, 6 course curriculum, covering the fundamental skills in data analysis and visualization, database technology, and data management—in-demand competencies for healthcare professionals.

“By combining competencies in both healthcare and information technology, this certificate helps prepare students for success in some of the fastest growing occupations, such as healthcare administration, health IT, and healthcare data analysis,” said Sue Stalewski, Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Academic Initiatives & Planning in the College of Health Sciences.

You will acquire fundamental skills in medical terminology, database technology, and data management that can be applied to careers in healthcare data analysis and informatics or healthcare IT. And with the Flex Tuition Guarantee, your tuition will not increase while you complete your certificate.

Undergraduate certificate can be earned on its own or combined with other UW Flexible Option degrees

You can earn this certificate on its own, use it as a pathway to earning a bachelor’s degree, or as an add-on to your current bachelor’s program. In addition to this certificate, UW-Milwaukee offers three online bachelor’s degree programs in the UW Flexible Option that are a great companion to this certificate—a BS in Health Sciences, a BS in Diagnostic Imaging, and a BS in Information Science and Technology.

This multidisciplinary certificate is offered through the UW-Milwaukee College of Health Sciences in partnership with the UW-Milwaukee School of Information Studies and UW-Milwaukee College of Nursing. 4. Employers are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s-level business degree

While there are many business-focused educational opportunities offered through massive open online courses (MOOCs), such as LinkedIn Learning, Coursera, edX, Udemy, and others, these credentials are not the same as earning a bachelor’s degree.
